Why digital file transfer or USB flash rather than a disk?
Disks are not only bad on the environment, but they are unreliable. They are prone to scratches and failure and some of the newer computers have even discontinued disk drives. Online storage gives you the ability to download your files from anywhere in the world with computer access (password protected of course). Galleries are hosted online indefinitely and also backed up locally. Some galleries are 1GB or more, so downloading as needed saves clients valuable hard drive space and prevents large files from reducing computer efficiency. If you prefer something tangible, a USB or portable hard drive are great affordable options for long term storage. It's quick and easy to drag and drop files between a USB and your computer. You can even reuse them for other files in the long term. So really, they're the best choice for the environment when compared to CD's.
