Southern Heritage Wood Artisans

Ron Coomes and Denise Browning own one of the most scenic farms in the Cave City, Kentucky area. This is a working farm, complete with a large historic home currently being restored, a chicken coop with colorful roosters whose feathers shine iridescent colors in the sun, fluffy guard dogs for their cows, a large pond surrounded by decorative limestone rocks with flowers and landscaping adorning every direction. Beautiful in any season, the only sounds here are the sound of nature and one could easily spend hours exploring this secluded farm. Unless it's hunting season, for they are skilled hunters and proud to utilize their acres of trees and land for harvest. Once, I watched a storm arriving from the distance as Denise assisted a sick calf and its worried mother. The majestic view of lightning spreading across the sky for miles was so breathtaking.

Ron and Denise, along with their friend Van Wethington, have beautifully remodeled their current home using the hand-crafted wood products they sell. Southern Heritage Wood Artisans designs and creates wood furniture and other products using reclaimed (salvaged and kiln dried) barnwood from unjustly abandoned and deteriorating barns across America. Their products are made by hand in their Horse Cave, Kentucky warehouse. Each finished piece is hand branded with their logo and the unique latitude and longitude of the barn from where the wood was sourced.

During my time working with them, I found the attention to detail in their home, warehouse, showroom and retail location to be quite impressive. At times, it was a bit intimidating as I worried I'd fail to meet their vision as I'd never before photographed wood furniture or an interior quite like theirs. It was however, quite obvious that they truly love the product they provide and believe in the future of their business. I wish them the best of luck in their endeavor and look forward to watching this company grow. I was thankful for the opportunity and hope to work together again.

For this project, I provided:

  • Photography of client's property and products while testing lighting they purchased and provided for my usage, entrusting me to keep lighting in new condition.
  • Photography of client's property and products using live models for their As Seen On TV commercial and website, social media, marketing and advertising purposes.
  • Photography of client's property and products inside a staged product showroom. These images were taken for website, social media, marketing and advertising purposes.
