FREE EVENT TODAY, Sunday, December 2nd, 2:00pmCST at Mammoth Cave National Park.

The 39th Annual Cave Sing!! 🎄✨ At 1:00pm: Before the Cave Sing, there is a special performance at the Rotunda Room at The Lodge at Mammoth Cave. Professional Pianist & former Mammoth Cave Guide, Janet Bass Smith, will be playing a medley of holiday selections along with her son, professional saxophonist, Randall Smith.

At 2:00pm: Enter the Historic Entrance. See the grand beauty of the Rotunda. Enjoy the unique ambiance of a Christmas tree inside the cave as the Lindsey Wilson College Singers serenade the crowd with holiday songs. After the performance, proceed to the Lodge entrance (across the bridge from the Visitor Center) for complimentary refreshments and a visit from Santa.
At 3:30pm: If you love Mammoth Cave and want to make a difference for the park and future generations, be sure to attend the meeting for Friends of Mammoth Cave National Park inside Spleunker’s Cafe. This meeting is free and open to the public.
The first year I went, I was worried it would be too loud for my kids, but the immense size of the cave proved itself ideal for music. Not too loud and perfect surround sound! The beauty of the cave is something even I have difficulty putting into words. If you’ve never seen inside the cave, this free event is a great reason to do so and is a fun event worthy of becoming a holiday tradition for you or your family.

I’ve been on lots of adventures over the last few months. Most at Mammoth Cave, many others at other local caves. This is an iPhone photo from one of them. Full DSLR galleries are coming soon to my website. I’m so thankful I applied to volunteer at Mammoth Cave over the summer. Volunteering is rewarding and good for the soul. My life and the enjoyment of it has improved in ways I never expected.
Happy Halloween!! It's 'scary' how beautiful Mammoth Cave National Park is, even at night! 🦇✨ There were no sounds except for the haunting howls of a nearby coyote. The stars shone brightly, sparkling like diamonds decorating the velvet darkness, visible through a gap in the surrounding canopy of trees. 10.27.18 | Mammoth Cave National Park Amphitheater
It’s almost Halloween! My favorite holiday. A great time to visually represent my love for bats! 🦇✨ Face painting: Emili Trousdale.
Seek that which makes your veins feel like lightning, your heart sing with fire and your mind illuminated with starry eyes. Find your passion, freely and without fear. Embrace the beauty of life.
Although it’s possible for a tree to lose leaves early due to stress from drought or disease, there are numerous other signs of an impending fall as I walk around my garden. The Tulip Poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera) is a beautiful, fast growing tree, able to feed hummingbirds nectar from its flowers and birds from its seed. It is also Kentucky’s state tree. Enjoy golden leaves in the fall, flowers in the spring and into early summer, and large leaves to shade the heat of summer. Want one? Check out the @arbordayfoundation for more details or to order barefoot saplings. https://www.arborday.org/trees/treeguide/treedetail.cfm?itemID=930
There are few symbols that inspire me like that of the National Park Service arrowhead. My husband, Brandon, knows how deeply I love the Parks, especially Mammoth Cave National Park. For my birthday (Aug 30th) he created something unexpected which was finished and gifted moments ago. It’s not perfect and he left out the words on this version, but I’m still impressed. He’s learning welding and somehow found time after work to experiment and create something cool for me. The best presents are handmade.🦇✨
Over the weekend, I found another #bat for my collection! #Halloween is my favorite holiday and the seasonal decor options are quite helpful to my quest.
