There are many brush sets on the market. How do you know what to buy? Whether you're clueless where to start when buying makeup brushes or are a beauty pro, this is a set worth considering with a FAR lower investment than a nearly exact replica name-brand brush set!
The Mirror (bonus)
Inside the box was a bonus compact folding mirror. It has two mirrors on the inside rather than just one. The best part of this mirror is that it can remain open in an 'L' shape for hands-free use. The exterior is plastic, but sturdy. The hinge is sturdy even with the stress of holding the case open during use. The only complaints I have is the top has the Beauty Lally logo which does devalue the case a bit if you're passing these off as a luxury brush set and it doesn't fit on or inside the case so could get lost or broken during travel.
The Case and Brushes
Made of leather or a man-made equivalent, this black case is very well made and securely protects the brushes for transport. There are two snaps to hold the top and bottom together. The Beauty Lally logo is present on both the top and bottom of the case, but not both sides so could easily be turned around while on display. I don't have any issues with this case though be warned, there is a bit of suction when opening so brushes may get launched. Especially upon the first time opening. My MIL and I quite literally butted heads bending at the same time to pickup my brushes that were launched the day my order arrived.
These brushes are solidly made, Kabuki style, using high quality synthetic hair which more hygienic and durable than natural hair brushes. The brush length is between 5-7 inches, providing plenty of handle for easy application. They have solid handles with different types of brushes for a variety of applications. Each handle is labeled for easy remembrance of their individual usage purpose. The text is printed clearly and legibly with a large font, but I'd love to seen them engraved instead for greater elegance, but at the same time know that engraved would perhaps be a bad idea as they would be hard to clean. Beauty Lally kindly included an informative insert showing a photo of each brush with a quick instructional usage guide along with customer support information.
The case is built very well and is great for travel. The bonus mirror doesn't fit in or on the case, but is a nice bonus. As for the brushes...wow. Each brush is amazingly soft and holds pigment like a sponge holds water. Great for easy and thorough application of foundation (cream OR liquid), powder, eyeshadow, lipstick...whatever you need. I was very impressed with how well these brushes held the products I used them with and how few times I'd have to reapply product to them. I've already used and washed my brushes multiple times without any visible wear and tear or damage.
Although there were no cleaning instructions included, I still needed to clean my brushes after use. I took the chance and used warm water and antibacterial soap, although a quick Google search recommends baby shampoo and using conditioner for delicate makeup brushes. Despite the softness of these brushes, they are durable! I washed them more than once and still zero fiber fallout. They remained soft after drying and held shape as if they were still brand new.
Makeup is expensive. So are the tools to apply. Ever hear of Sigmax brushes? $162 for a set of 10 and they're basically the same Kabuki style brushes with basically the same travel case! So, obviously, the Beauty Lally set is a great value. WARRANTY? Every product includes a 30 days money back & three year guarantee!!! Although sold on Amazon and not in a local retail store, shipping and delivery were flawless. I received my order on-time and inside the box was bubble air packs to safely protect the product during transit.
Although there are more expensive, brand name travel makeup sets on the market, when you compare to options such as Sigmax, these are a more affordable alternative. Even if you don't plan to use them often, you'll be glad to have them for times when you want to do a full makeup application for a special occasion. Even more so, this set makes a GREAT GIFT idea for all ages. I know I'd loved to had these as a young adult when I first began my journey into using makeup.
