FAQ: Popular Questions

Where are you located?

Soul Gaze Photography is based in Glasgow, Kentucky. A small city with a classic charm, located about halfway between Louisville, Kentucky and Nashville, Tennessee. The nearest city being Bowling Green. This area is centrally located for a variety of activities from family fun to business endeavors. It’s also located less than an hour from the world’s longest cave, Mammoth Cave National Park, as well as a variety of other popular tourist destinations. It is here that photo sessions and design inspiration exceed expectations.

Where do you do your work?

Photography and fine art commissions are provided on-location and I can shoot indoors and outdoors regardless if it's rain or shine, hot or cold. Design & marketing is provided remotely, but can be in-person if needed. Sessions can be at one or multiple locations, as needed. I can also help you select the ideal location for your needs.

Do you have an indoor studio?

I am a traveling location photographer. I do not currently work from an indoor studio, however I am able to photograph jewelry and small products from my home office and can rent a local studio, if needed.

Do you travel?

I love to travel! Locations in Barren and surrounding counties are included with no travel fee. Locations beyond this may require a minimal travel fee. Some locations are on my bucket list and will be fee-free, just cover transportation, lodging and related expenses.

Can clients choose the location?

Of course! The location plays a significant role in creating unique and personalized photos. We'll work together to determine the perfect location. The time of day can affect a location, but we'll plan accordingly. Sunset’s golden hour is highly recommended, but not required.

NOTICE: Client is responsible for all permits, fees and limitations at the location.

Are you really open 24/7?

Services are available by appointment 24/7. An appointment is required prior to visiting my office. I am unable to maintain set office hours due to the nature of my work, my volunteer commitments at Mammoth Cave, and my family’s needs. My clients have a wide variety of schedules and work shifts, and I do my best to accommodate that. I’m happy to align with your schedule, even if that means 3am or a weekend is the best time for you! With proper notice, I’m always glad to work around your needs. Photography services are available day or night, in any weather or season. I'm often able to drop what I’m doing and come to you, but in cases where I have prior obligations, I’m happy to refer you to a trusted professional in my network.

How do I request a quote?

If you need a quick price estimate, contact me to request a quote. Please provide all relevant details such as the type of service needed, length of time needed and all locations as well as any other details I should know.

What are consultations?

Consultations are informal meetings so we can get to know each other before moving forward. We’ll discuss your needs and goals while I answer your questions. You may schedule it by phone, video call or in-person at a local coffee shop or restaurant. Consultations are optional, however they are HIGHLY recommended. Some people just don’t vibe well. To discuss your project in detail, please schedule a consult.olor sit amet

How do I book?

Booking a consultation, photography or a design project is a straightforward process with no hidden fees or spooky steps.

Contact me when ready to book or schedule a consultation to answer any questions and ensure the most detailed level of service possible.

Once we agree on the scope and fee, I'll email the agreement and invoice. It's faster, easier and Eco-friendly to handle everything online, and you'll have everything in one easy to find place.

DO YOU REQUIRE A DEPOSIT/RETAINER? WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON'T PAY?

To reserve your session or project on my calendar, a non-refundable retainer of 50% of the total invoice is required. This retainer secures your date and covers initial time and resources. The remaining balance is due on or before the scheduled date.

No work will be delivered until the full invoice is paid. This includes images, websites, and design files. I understand that some clients prefer a split payment structure, and I’m happy to accommodate so long as the full amount is received prior to final delivery.

Unpaid projects will not be edited, delivered, or published. I reserve the right to display any work created (including photography and design) in my portfolio and marketing, regardless of payment status. Any unpaid projects will be archived for up to one year; after that, they will be permanently deleted, except those retained for promotional use.

What payment options do you accept?

Cash, Venmo, PayPal, major credit cards, local bank deposit, and check. Projects have the option of utilizing an early pay discount as well as no-interest payment plans.

NOTICE: Due to bounced checks, all payments by check must clear bank prior to moving forward with projects, being credited to an invoice, or delivery of final photos, prints, or design work.

Do you offer discounts?

If you truly appreciate my style and respect what I do for a living, I don't mind discussing prices. Any of my services can be customized to better suit your unique needs. Since I don’t have to pay for a studio, my prices are far more affordable than most. Worried you can’t afford my prices? Don’t be. I accept payments and in some cases trade for services. If you have an idea for something amazing, let's find a way to make it happen!

I do provide a discount (ID required!) to military, emergency responders and park rangers and their immediate families. Contact me for details.

What if I need to reschedule or want to cancel?

Let me know asap! As long as you inform me, there won’t be a fee. Just don’t do it excessively because that’s rude and we’ll have to have a talk. Like dating, you don’t show up or keep in touch — we’re breaking up. If you don’t inform m and fail to show up, there is a $100 fee. I will make exceptions to this fee for emergencies, with proof. Your situation will be kept confidential.

Do you provide referrals?

I’m proud to be a part of an extensive network of talented professional photographers. If I’m booked or we’re not a good fit for each other, no worries, I’m happy to refer you for free. I believe strongly in community over competition. There’s plenty of work to go around, if we network together. If you don’t vibe with my style, but still need a photographer or designer, send me a message.

FYI — I recommend service providers in Barren and surrounding counties, but am not responsible for your experience or results working with them. Be sure to protect yourself by checking reviews, reading their contracts carefully and ensuring their local license, as well as insurance, is current.

How long does a photo session last?

The duration of a photo session varies, depending on the type and scope of the project. It's important to provide ample time to ensure you feel relaxed and comfortable without feeling rushed.

What if the weather is unfavorable for an outdoor shoot?

If the weather doesn't cooperate, we can try to find an alternate location or reschedule. I'm flexible and won't charge a fee if it's due to weather. Your safety is my priority. As a trained spotter, I will be monitoring weather conditions and will have the final say on weather related changes in plans.

How do you handle editing and delivery?

You'll have the opportunity to see the images and choose which ones to keep and which ones to delete. Images are professionally edited to enhance quality, and retouched to remove blemishes.

High-resolution, print-ready images are delivered digitally in a password-protected online gallery. Friends and family can be authorized to place orders. A print release is included for personal printing use. If desired, professional prints and products, along with personal order assistance, are available upon request.

Who will see my images?

I value the reputation and respect of my clients and never use images without permission. With your contract is a model/property release allowing you to choose the level of exposure or lack thereof. I appreciate when clients allow me to share images for my portfolio.

What if I want private images?

I’m a mother of three (soon to be four in December 2025), so I completely understand the importance of privacy, especially when it comes to social media. I provide every client with a release form, giving you the choice of whether your photos can be shared, and where (social media, website portfolio, etc.). In addition, your online gallery is password-protected and comes with built-in security and image-control features. Even if you share your gallery with family or friends, they won’t be able to view any photos you’ve marked as private, so your wishes remain respected.

How long does it take to receive the final edited photos?

The editing process typically takes 1-2 weeks, depending on the volume of images and the complexity of editing required. It's important to not rush the process to ensure the best quality edits. Larger projects take more time and smaller projects take less. If you have a specific deadline, please inform me prior to booking so I can ensure I'll have the availability. An optional rush fee is available by request and will be custom quoted based on the number of images and complexity of edits requested.

I usually try to post a few preview images for you on social media or in your gallery (if digitals are included). I personally provide all services and do not outsource editing, so am sometimes delayed depending on how often I am able to be at home to edit due to working at Mammoth Cave, and my family's needs. I promise, I am working as fast as I can without sacrificing quality.

What equipment do you use?

  • Camera: Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max, Canon 5D Mark III with 17- 40mm, 35mm, 50mm,135mm and 100mm macro.
  • Lighting: Natural light, Profoto A2, Profoto Connect Pro, Profoto Clic Octa Softbox, Matthews 7' reverse stand.

  • OS: Mac

All equipment is registered by serial number, insured, regularly inspected, properly stored and maintained. If additional equipment is needed, I have access to rental vendors who specialize in professional photography equipment.

Why should I print images?

Photography was once a luxury few could afford except at birth, marriage or death. Often, only at death. Now, nearly everyone has a camera in their pocket. Problem is, nearly all of our images are now digital. There’s something beautiful about the raw, tangible aspect of a print. I want my clients to feel the texture, see the rich vibrant colors or muted tones and feel the emotion of the moment within the frame. Not just lured into a digital device, scrolling on to the next image before it too is forgotten. Photography was meant to be captured and shared, displayed and appreciated for future generations. It’s time we get back to that.

Do you work with a second shooter?

It depends on your budget and the purpose. For weddings, I always recommend a second (or even a third!) shooter to ensure your event is fully covered

What is included in the service fee?

The service fee is payment for my time on-location providing photographic services AND professionally editing your images. I am flexible in regards to length of session, locations, outfit changes and other relevant needs. There is no specific limit on the amount of photos taken nor the time required, provided the session time is respectful of both our time. Prints and products are a purchased separately.

Do you expect a meal for events that are catered?

I always appreciate being provided food, however I’m fine with packing myself food from home. If I am photographing a lengthy event such as a wedding, it is in my contract that I be provided a meal break with everyone else. Everyone works best when they’re not hangry, and your guests will appreciate not being photographed while chewing! I always photograph the food and decor before taking my meal break.

What is your copyright and sharing policy?

I am honored when you like my work enough to use/share on social media. It inspires me to keep creating. You are encouraged to use and share your images, but please remember to credit Soul Gaze Photography (by text or tag) and please do not to alter images in any way other than crop (if required by social media). Your cooperation protects the integrity of my work when seen by non-clients. Thank you for your support!

Why do you not include prints or products?

To be more Eco-friendly and save clients money, prints and products are purchased seperately. My clients love to have the ability to order only the prints and products they truly need, rather than being forced into expensive packages with wasteful extras.

Do we receive digital files and a print release?

Depends on the photographic service you choose. For those where digital files are included, you will receive high and low resolution images via password protected online download. You will have full printing and sharing rights, however, it is in my contract that you can not sell images for profit.

How do I receive my images?

Once the service fee has been paid in full, images are delivered online in a shareable, password protected gallery for those you approve to view and order. Prints and products are available for purchase anytime as-needed. You may also request your images be delivered on a USB flash drive in an heirloom quality giftbox.

WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT FOR US TO WORK WELL TOGETHER?

Results are dependent upon the lighting and time of day, location, and client cooperation. The majority of my images are a result of careful planning and a commitment to working together to create something beautiful. It's important that we vibe together well for the most creativity.

CAN I MEET YOU IN-PERSON?

Before anything is official, we can meet at a mutually local public place or over a live video call (Zoom, Facetime or Messenger) to discuss your project needs and budget. If we're not a good fit, I can refer you to someone in my professional network. Virtual meetings are offered free of charge and in-person meeting have a fee. You will be under no obligation, nor pressure to hire me.

What is your personal use license?

All images are edited and delivered in an online gallery with a personal use license and print release provided. Using your digital or printed license, you'll be able to use the photos on your website and social media, as well as make prints for yourself and your immediate family. A commercial use license is available for an additional fee.
