About

Soul Gaze

Soul Gaze began as a personal creative project by Amber Flowers, a Barren County native and Class of 2002 graduate. The name Soul Gaze was chosen in 2003 as photography evolved from a creative hobby into photographing others. What began with volunteering creative services gradually grew into accepting trades, donations, and eventually paid client work. As the internet and social media evolved, so did the business, expanding into website design, branding, and marketing. Encouraged by family, friends, and clients, Amber took the leap and officially established Soul Gaze Photography, LLC as a Kentucky business in 2014.

Alongside photography, Amber developed an interest in web design creating websites through Yahoo! GeoCities. While social media was still in its early years, she  continued to learn as the online world evolved. As new platforms and technologies emerged, so did her skills. She joined MySpace, providing profile customization through CSS, HTML and custom graphics. In 2009, she joined Facebook. Primarily self-taught, her skills expanded into branding, graphic design, and marketing.

In later years, her background as a freelance reporter for local newspapers lead to front-page publication in both print and online editions. Covering real people, events, and community stories reinforced the importance of documenting genuine moments and telling the story with accuracy. Their ethic guidelines and quality requirements helped shape her unique documentary approach to visual storytelling.

Today, Soul Gaze Photography is a full-service creative studio offering photography, website design, and marketing for individuals, businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations, guided by the same passion for authentic storytelling that inspired it from the beginning.
